The International Council of Nurses (ICN) and global Nursing Now Campaign have expressed their condolences for those impacted by the Australian bushfires.
ICN CEO Howard Catton addressed the impact of the bushfires on the Australian community in a personal letter to Australian College of Nursing (ACN) CEO Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward FACN. Mr Catton acknowledged the great suffering caused by the bushfires and recognised the outstanding contribution emergency workers, volunteers and nurses who continue to support communities when though their own properties are under threat. In a statement, the Nursing Now Leadership Team said they were “deeply saddened to hear about the wildfires and their devastating impact on the lives of communities across Australia.” They also offered their gratitude to the nurses, midwives and first responders providing health care and emotional to support to those impacted.
