The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) in collaboration with the Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) are hosting two introductory CPD accredited My Health Record webinars to support the critical role nurses play in delivering coordinated health care to patients. The webinars will address what My Health Record is, why we need it and when and how to use it.
As of February 2019, over 90% of Australians have a My Health Record[1]. This not only means that patients have greater expectations to have clinical information available in their record, but key elements of the My Health Record system will be used by other healthcare providers for the continuity of care of their patients. Therefore, it is necessary that nurses are equipped with the knowledge and experience to use the My Health Record system, where appropriate. The growing source of health history information in a patient’s My Health Record will assist health care providers to make more informed choices, as such it is important healthcare providers embrace digital health and technologies to improve the overall health benefits to patients.
These introductory webinars will cover the fundamental elements of the My Health Record system including the authorised collection, use and disclosure of an individual’s health information. Explore the different access controls that will enable you to address a patient’s privacy and security concerns.
