Disasters disrupt the normal functioning of communities. When a disaster occurs, Australian nurses may respond as part of a government or non-government disaster medical assistance team. Additionally, nurses may be in the communities, which are affected by disaster and spontaneously respond outside of disaster team.
The Australian College of Nursing, Disaster Health Faculty is established to facilitate a network of like-minded Fellows and Members who share an interest in disaster health. As a member of the Faculty, Fellows and Members stay up-to-date with news, research findings, best practice, educational opportunities and policy developments related to disaster health.
