ACN Expert Advisory Group on Ageing announced
The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) has established an Expert Advisory Group (EAG) on Ageing to support ACN’s advocacy work on issues related to ageing. Driving this need are ongoing aged care workforce concerns, extensive national reforms in aged care and emerging issues associated with ageing.
ACN’s President Carmen Morgan says, “The EAG on Ageing will inform ACN’s positions on a broad range of ageing issues and provide expert nursing perspectives on proposals around ageing populations as tabled by policymakers.”
ACN is pleased to announce that Susan Emerson MACN will chair the new EAG on Ageing. “Susan Emerson has over twenty years of experience in Aged Care, she has worked in areas of clinical and managerial leadership, undertaken design and project coordination for the construction of new care facilities, and has made a sustained contribution to service and policy thinking in the wider aged care sector at both state and national levels,” said Ms Morgan.

“These members bring a diversity of perspectives to ACN’s EAG on Ageing. They are experienced nurse leaders in the field of ageing and come from a range of academic, policy, clinical as well as service provision backgrounds,” says Ms Morgan.
The EAG on Ageing will provide expert guidance and nurse leadership to inform ACN’s positions in the complex and rapidly changing policy environment regarding Australia’s ageing population.
