About ACN's Graduation Ceremony
The Australian College of Nursing’s Graduate Ceremony is a momentous occasion where we come together to honor the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our graduates. This special event celebrates the commitment to excellence in nursing education and the exciting journey that lies ahead for each graduate.
The ceremony brings together graduates, their families, and faculty to recognise the culmination of study, practice, and dedication.
Note: Eligible students will be contacted via their nominated email address, please ensure your email is updated.
Registration
Around March of each year, you will receive an invitation to register and pay to attend your upcoming graduation ceremony. Invitations will be sent to both your nominated email address. Graduands and their guests can register for the ceremony through MyACN.

Order of events
- 2:30pm — Graduands arrival, registration and gowning
- 3:15pm — Institute of Leadership and Guest arrival and registration

- 4:15pm — Instructions to graduands and guests

- 6:00pm — Cocktail reception
- 7:00pm — Event close

Getting here
Parking
There is no free parking, but paid parking is available at the following locations:
- Secure World Square Car park – 50 Goulburn Street
- Secure Goulburn Street Car park – 101 Goulburn Street
Please check with Secure World for fees.
Public transport
The closest station is Museum Station (300 metres or a 3-minute walk) or Central Station (700 metres or 7 minutes). To walk from Museum Station, follow the Castlereagh Street exit signs inside the station, then turn left heading south down Castlereagh Street. At the first intersection (corner of Castlereagh & Goulburn Streets), turn right to the SMC main entrance at 66 Goulburn Street.
Frequently asked questions
Registration
You must register and pay the graduation fee by the specified deadline to attend your graduation ceremony.
To attend your ceremony, you will be required to pay the graduation fee. Graduands fee is $150. Guests are $50 each.
You may invite up to two guests, each of whom will need to purchase a ticket. Please note that all children requiring a seat must have a ticket purchased for them as well.
There may be an opportunity to purchase additional tickets. However, this is done closer to the graduation ceremony.
We do not issue tickets. We have a registration counter at the venue. Graduands and guests will need to be signed into the venue and the graduation room.
Venue
Access for people with limited mobility/wheelchair users is available by the Main Entrance on 66 Goulburn Street. Accessible toilets are also available at the venue.
Unfortunately, there are no cloakroom facilities at the location. Please leave your personal belongings with your guests. If you are attending by yourself, please ask one of our staff on the day for assistance.
Prams, strollers and pushchairs can be brought into the building. Small children are welcome and may sit on an adult’s lap. Children requiring their seats must use one of your allocated guest tickets.
Timeline
All Higher Education graduands should arrive and register at 2:30pm before proceeding to the gowning area. The Institute of Leadership graduands should arrive and register at 3:15pm.
All guests should arrive and register at 3.15pm.
All graduands and guests will be seated at 4pm. The ceremony will commence at 4:30pm.
The Cocktail reception commences at 6pm. The event concludes at 7pm.
Gowning process
This is a special occasion. Wear whatever clothes and shoes you feel comfortable in.
There is a designated gowning area in the venue. Our staff will assist you on locating this on your arrival.
Valuables should be given to your friends and family for safekeeping during the ceremony.
Ushers will escort you. Your seat will be allocated by name and course.
All graduands will be seated together. All guests (including children) will be seated directly behind or beside the Graduands.
Please return your stole and gown to an ACN staff member before leaving the venue.
Documentation
Graduands will be presented with the original Testamur during the graduation ceremony.
Digital academic documents, including Testamur, transcript (academic record) and the Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS) are accessible via My eQuals approximately 4-6 weeks after course completion.
Graduands who are not able to attend graduation will have their Testamur posted to their home address after graduation.
Photography
Professional photographs are taken at the ceremony of each graduand on stage. This photo is available for purchase after the ceremony. In addition, professional photographs with family and friends can be taken in the onsite studios before and after the ceremony.
Family and friends are more than welcome to take photographs and/or videos of the ceremony; however, you must remain seated at all times. No tripods are allowed.
