In this core unit of study, students explore nursing practice across a range of perioperative settings, and examine the key role played by nurses in promoting a safe environment. Nursing research and its application to contemporary practice is examined, and legal and ethical issues are applied to perioperative nursing practice. Students analyse communication processes and collaboration within the multidisciplinary team and identify approaches to supporting safe practice within an evidence-based framework.
