Overview
The Therapeutic Communication in Contemporary Healthcare micro-credential is the first module in the Therapeutic Communication series. Evidence suggests that ineffective communication leads to poor patient outcomes, decreased job satisfaction and health system inefficiencies.
This microcredential introduces students to the communication theories and skills required to function as integral members of interprofessional teams in contemporary healthcare environments.
It explores the theoretical foundations, types and communication processes used by healthcare professionals to establish and sustain therapeutic relationships. The students will also have the opportunity to reflect on their practice and develop their understanding of the culturally safe and respectful strategies used to provide person-centred care across the lifespan.
