Overview
The knowledge gained from working through the readings and activities in the Embryonic and Fetal Development microcredential will help you understand body systems’ function, regulation, and maintenance concerning the typical stages of embryonic and fetal development. You will explore genetic and environmental factors that may interfere with neonatal growth and development. This knowledge is helpful because it prepares you to reflect, research, and learn more about the factors that may impede a newborn’s successful transition to extrauterine life.

Career outcomes
Applicable to nurses and midwives employed in peri-natal settings or those pursuing professional development in relation to their nursing and midwifery practice. This credit bearing microcredential may contribute towards the completion of unit 071 Applied neonatal Physiology – a (pre-requisite) core unit in the Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Care.

Trish coordinates our Graduate Certificates in Child and Family Health and Neonatal Care. Trish’s PhD thesis investigated the stressors and satisfiers impacting neonatal nurses’ professional quality of life. Trish is committed to advancing nurse leadership by equipping nurses and midwives with the necessary knowledge to meet their mandatory registration requirements, especially concerning their recency of practice and continuing professional development.
