The Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change – Policy Brief for Australia

Health and its relation to climate change have been changing in positive ways in recent years. However, there are still severe climate crises around the world with billions annually in expenditure on disasters. The Lancet Countdown has a mission to ensure that health is at the centre of understanding and responding to climate change. It is imperative that health organisations increase efforts to decarbonise their operations and that the Australian governments develop a nuanced National Heat and Health Action Plan.
