This unit of study will allow nurses to expand their knowledge of specific nursing interventions relating to breast cancer surgery. With an increased demand for surgery and treatment option information, it is imperative that the clinical nurse possess the information to better support the individual. Pre-surgical considerations will be discussed along with the various surgical treatment options available, including oncoplastic and reconstruction options. This unit of study will also address the post-surgical care requirements and associated complications. This unit of study aims to prepare the clinical nurse to provide safe, evidence-based, and holistic care to breast cancer individuals undergoing surgical interventions.
