The 2022 National Nursing Forum is only one week away and soon nurses from across Australia will be convening in Darwin and online to discuss the 2022 theme ‘Nursing Leadership Unmasked.’
The theme follows two and half years of a pandemic, and countless natural disasters and allows an opportunity for nurses to connect, network and share their insights and solutions with each other.

Meet our military nursing might
The ACN Military Nursing Faculty are holding a full day conference on Tuesday August 16 (the day prior to the forum) to share insights and experiences on leadership in domestic and operational settings.
The Conference has a strong lineup of speakers and panels to share ideas and recognise the 80th anniversary of two major events in Australian history: the sinking of the SS Vyner Brooke that led to the Bangka Island Massacre, and the Bombing of Darwin.
Early career, experienced and non-military nurses are welcome to attend the conference and learnings will be able to be taken into other settings.

Get together face to face
With over 700 nurses from Australia registered for the Forum, it is the best time for you to meet, network and catch up with your fellow nurses. There will be a diverse range of nurses meeting in Darwin, whether it be early career nurses, different special interests, and life experiences and all have the opportunity to become lifelong friends.

Dinner, drinks and discussing nursing breakthroughs
The Gala Dinner is a must-attend part of the National Nursing Forum which gives attendees the chance to have a relaxing evening and unwind with your peers from across the country.
This year’s Gala Dinner has a special surprise guest speaker for the night and is a rare opportunity to hear from Australia’s best and brightest while you dine on the nicest food Darwin has to offer.
Listen and learn to nursing experiences
Throughout the three-day Forum there are several Keynote Speakers who will be sharing their experiences, insights and recommendations to the 2022 theme ‘Nursing Leadership Unmasked.’
These Speakers will give a rare insight into the senior levels of nursing leadership, and include nurses such as University of Wollongong Vice Chancellor Professor Patricia Davidson FACN, 2021 Health Minister’s Award for Nursing Trailblazers winner Sonia Martin MACN and Master of Ceremonies Karen Cook FACN.
Pick up new skills during the presentations
The National Nursing Forum is the leading place for nurses to share their insights, experiences and knowledge with other nurses across Australia and the world. This year’s Forum includes four streams to choose from that cover presentations in Nursing Innovation, Cultural Change, Quality and Safety, and Workforce Sustainability.
Within these streams, there are a plethora of areas of nursing innovation that you can listen and learn from to take back to your local workplace. Are you interested in improving nurse and midwives wellbeing, promoting relationship-based fundamental care, or growing your cultural competency? These are just some of the many presentations available across the three days.

See the sights and lights of Darwin
If you have some spare time between everything going on in the Forum, why not take some time to explore Darwin? As part of the Top End, Darwin has many fascinating things to see and do, whether you prefer to get in touch with nature, experience arts and culture, or see the local bars and food.
Between getting to know the local history and culture of the Larriaka country and its people, the Darwin Festival, or taking a health tour of the city, there is something for everyone to get involved with. We’ve shared our favourites and it’s important to take some time to rest and relax between the busyness of the event!
